Our Story
Built From the Ground Up
EVG Excavating started with one machine, one operator, and a commitment to doing the job right — every single time.
How It Started
One Machine. One Standard.
EVG Excavating was founded in Thorndale, Ontario by a guy who grew up around heavy equipment and knew there was a better way to run a contracting business. Not bigger crews, not more subcontractors — just the right people, the right machines, and a standard that doesn't slip.
We started with a single compact excavator and a dump truck, taking on residential jobs in the surrounding area. Word spread fast — not because of advertising, but because we showed up on time, communicated clearly, and left every site cleaner than we found it.
Today we run a full fleet of equipment and serve clients across southwestern Ontario. The business has grown, but the approach hasn't changed: owner on site, same crew, no shortcuts.
"The business has grown, but the approach hasn't changed."
The Journey
How We Got Here
Year 1
First Machine, First Jobs
Started with a compact excavator and a dump truck. First clients were neighbours and word-of-mouth referrals in the Thorndale area.
Year 2
Fleet Expansion
Added a skid steer and plate compactor to take on hardscape and interlock work. Hired the first crew member.
Year 3
Expanding the Region
Expanded service area across southwestern Ontario. Started taking on larger commercial site prep and multi-phase residential projects.
Today
Full-Service Operation
Four core services, a full fleet of owned equipment, and a reputation built entirely on referrals and repeat clients.
What Drives Us
The EVG Standard
Owner on Every Job
You're not dealing with a project manager who's never touched a machine. The owner shows up, assesses the site, and stays accountable from start to finish.
No Subcontractors
Every person on your job site is part of the EVG crew. We don't farm work out. That means consistent quality and one point of contact — always.
Straight Quotes
We give you a written number before we start. No surprise invoices, no scope creep billed after the fact. If something changes, we talk about it first.
Clean Sites
We take pride in how we leave a property. Equipment tracks get cleaned up, debris gets hauled, and the area around the work gets restored before we pack up.
